Wendy Meister, a former research analyst and administrative specialist for the Lake County Clerk’s Office, could have opted to rest on her laurels after reaching a $575,000 settlement with the county in 2021.
The settlement concluded a lawsuit Meister and former clerk’s office employee Tracey Repa brought against the county, alleging they were fired by County Clerk Robin O’Connor in retaliation for a meeting with the sheriff’s office over what they said were “improprieties in the management and payment of storage” involving a company affiliated with a former deputy county administrator’s spouse.
Now, Meister says she wants to continue to bring “transparency with our contracting” to the Lake County Board as she runs against Charles “Chuck” Nozicka of Libertyville in the District 3 Democratic primary on June 28.
