Honeywell International Inc. defeated a retaliation lawsuit by a White employee who said he was fired for opposing and refusing to take mandatory implicit bias training.
The ruling Monday by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois turned on a recurring issue in the employment discrimination context: whether a worker reasonably believed an employer engaged in conduct that violated anti-bias laws. The court here joined a host of other federal courts in finding workplace training on diversity and inclusion isn’t a discriminatory employment practice.
