SPRINGFIELD — While working at Mercy Medical Center in positions including director of perioperative services, Irene Fawthrop said she flagged safety issues.
Operating rooms weren’t being sanitized correctly, and some doctors were not willing to use special trays to pass needles to avoid being poked, and attendance was sparse at her safety meetings, she alleged.
