Lawyers for Mohammed Amin Adam, former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for the Karaga Constituency, have initiated legal action against two radio panellists over what they describe as defamatory and false claims.
The legal team is demanding that Fuseini Safianu Mandeya and Rashid Yakubu retract allegations made during a broadcast on Radio Tamale, in which they accused Dr Amin Adam of keeping a lion at his residence. According to the lawyers, the statements were not only untrue but damaging to their client’s reputation.
The controversy stems from comments made on March 31, 2026, when the panellists alleged that Dr Amin Adam, after receiving support from his constituents and political party, chose to rear a lion and feed it with large quantities of beef instead of supporting his people. The remarks quickly drew attention and sparked public debate.
In response, the former minister’s legal representatives have issued a formal demand for an immediate retraction and apology. They insist that the retraction must be given the same level of prominence as the original claims.
Additionally, Rashid Yakubu and Mohammed Bandirigbum have been instructed to withdraw further allegations suggesting that Dr Amin Adam purchased the alleged lion for $1 million.
