Former VP Sues Salesforce, Claiming It Lied 'Genie' Operates in ... - Law.com

Salesforce was hit with a lawsuit by its former vice president of product management over whistleblower retaliation allegations after he raised concerns regarding the company’s alleged plan to falsely inform the public that its customer data platform “Genie” operates in real time.

This complaint was first surfaced by Law.com Radar.

A July 28 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts by Hartley Michon Robb Hannon on behalf of Karl Wirth, the former VP of product management, alleged that Salesforce falsely informed the public at a September 2022 Dreamforce conference that its new customer data platform “Genie” operates in “real time,” despite the technology not having real-time capabilities.

Wirth claims that he was fired for raising concerns regarding the description that the platform operated in real time before the company informed the public about the product, according to the complaint.

The complaint contends that when Wirth brought his concerns “to numerous individuals within Salesforce who had the authority to investigate, discover, or stop this fraudulent scheme from coming to fruition and, more specifically, to prevent Salesforce from making false statements at Dreamforce about the supposed real-time capabilities,” Salesforce conducted a campaign to discredit and diminish his standing within the company, which resulted in his termination days before the conference, which was held last September.
