Former President Donald Trump spent the past few days talking about a mythical "whistleblower," who gave "real" economic data that shows the jobs rate and unemployment data and that it was way off from what President Joe Biden quoted.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics posts numbers every month. After about a month, they are adjusted to be more accurate. Fox News host Neil Cavuto explained there's nothing untoward or secret about it on his Thursday show after Trump repeated the claim at the border.
So, the roughly 2.9 million jobs that had been "thought to have been gained during that 12-month period between April 2023 and March 2024 was not 2.9 million. It was more like 2.1 million."

"There was no cabal here. It's not information that was leaked. It was a planned adjustment that the economic officials do," Cavuto said, noting that the labor bureau isn't political or partisan.
He called the 800,000 discrepancy a "jarring number."
