Free legal, financial help for Cape Cod's women expanded to Falmouth - Cape Cod Times

For 25 years, Women’s Empowerment through Cape Area Networking WE CAN has been building trust within the community, said WE CAN Executive Director Lisa Guyon.

And now, she said, it's time to expand services to women in Falmouth, Bourne, Mashpee and Sandwich.

"It's great that these milestones can be inflection points for our organization," said Guyon in a phone interview with the Times. "But we also see this as just the beginning. We want to step further into the future."

According to Guyon, who took over leadership from Andi Genser at WE CAN in 2018, WE CAN has begun offering free legal consultations and financial empowerment services at the Falmouth Service Center.

"Services are designed to build off of what the Service Center already provides," said Guyon. "We are not interested in duplicating what they are already doing."

The Service Center, at 611 Gifford St., works to increase self-sufficiency for community members by helping to build networks among clients, neighbors and agencies, according to its website. It has been a multi-service agency since 1983, and bolsters about 600 volunteers.
