“Enough is enough” – The Macrons are hauling conservative influencer Candace Owens to court to combat false claims that France’s first lady is not a woman.

Some headlines are almost too embarrassing to write, and news too ludicrous to seem real. But it’s true: France’s President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte will subject themselves to providing “scientific and photographic evidence” that she is a woman at an upcoming trial against right-wing American podcaster, Candace Owens. The lawsuit was filed in July in response to Owens’ baseless claims that the French first lady is a man. The Macrons seek damages on 22 counts, and say they have suffered “substantial economic damages” as a result of the lies about Brigitte. The suit, filed in Delaware, accuses the influencer of running “a relentless year-long campaign of defamation.”
Their attorney, Tom Clare, told CNN, “This was really a last resort. We have attempted to engage with [Owens] and for the last year, putting evidence in front of her… ” Clare stated that they repeatedly requested that she simply do the right thing. “Tell the truth. Stop spreading these lies.” He said, “Each time we’ve done that, she mocked the Macrons, she mocked our efforts to set the record straight. Enough is enough, it was time to hold her accountable.”
