First Unum Life Insurance Co. defeated a lawsuit by a futures and options trade broker who sought long-term disability benefits after suffering a stroke while on the clock.

All of the physicians who treated Gregg Arenson and reviewed his records at the initial claim determination stage concluded that his stroke didn’t cause any cognitive impairments, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said in a Jan. 13 opinion upholding First Unum’s decision to deny benefits.
