A proposed privacy class action against GameStop Corp. should be dismissed because it brings “untenable” legal theories attempting to link wiretapping claims to website customer chat features, the video game retailer told a California federal court.
Customer Miguel Licea alleged in a September lawsuit that GameStop secretly wiretaps its online customers chats and shares the transcripts with a third party that uses the data for marketing. The complaint claims the third party is either software company Zendesk Inc. or Salesforce Inc.
