General Motors Ending Electric Van Production at Ingersoll Plant: Employee Rights - Samfiru Tumarkin LLP

What’s Happening at GM?

General Motors (GM) is ending production of its BrightDrop electric delivery vans at the CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ont. — leaving the future of hundreds of employees uncertain.

“This has nothing to do with tariffs or trade,” Kristian Aquilina, GM Canada’s president and managing director, told reporters at the facility.

“It’s simply a demand and a market-driven response.”

The bombshell announcement comes just months after the automaker paused production at the plant in May.
