George Santos claims he's 'learned' his 'lesson,' will be more truthful moving forward - Fox11online.com

WASHINGTON (TND) — Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., has dominated headlines recently after making several false claims about his background, but he's now claiming his dishonest behavior is behind him.

During a Tuesday interview with One America News (OAN), Santos claimed that he's "learned" his "lesson" and that he will prioritize being more truthful as he moves forward.

I’ve learned my lesson and I can guarantee you that from now on anything, everything is always going to be aboveboard," Santos told show host Caitlin Sinclair. "It’s largely always been aboveboard... I’m just gonna go the extra step now to double-check, cross-reference everything."

Santos has already admitted to lying about his college education, job experience and campaign finance disclosures, but he's pushed back against claims that he's a "drag queen" or that he "let a dog die."

While the claim about the dog may still be up in the air, Santos's argument that he is not a "drag queen" faces fresh pushback thanks to a video of the newly elected representative apparently dressed in drag at a 2005 Pride parade in Brazil.

During his interview with OAN, Santos admitted he lied about his education because he feared being "looked down on" by others for not having a diploma. He also claimed he's never been dishonest about his own personal finances.

I’ve never had to establish or present falsehoods pertaining to my own finances,” Santos said. “I’m the first one to say not doing that."
