James Ellner, Georgia Pain Management, and Samson Pain Center have agreed to pay $625,000 to resolve allegations of submitting improper claims to the Medicare and TRICARE programs for evaluation and management services and medically unnecessary urine drug screening tests, according to a Tuesday news release.
Ellner and Georgia Pain allegedly violated the False Claims Act by submitting claims that were not reimbursable under federal health-care programs by improperly bundling routine E&M services that didn’t qualify for “Modifier 25,” the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia said.
