Georgia-based Elite Healthcare Enterprises Inc. must pay about $10.3 million in damages and penalties under a default judgment in a False Claims Act suit alleging improper Medicaid billing.
The federal government’s allegations are sufficient to state a claim for relief that is plausible on its face, and Elite never filed an answer to the complaint nor substantive response to the government’s motion for default, Judge J.P. Boulee of the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia said in a Feb. 13 order.
