Demitrios M. Moschos, a partner at Worcester’s Seder & Chandler and chair of the firm’s labor & employment practice, has been recognized by many as the dean of Massachusetts labor and employment attorneys.

Moschos has made significant contributions to labor and employment legislation in Massachusetts and has drafted laws that are currently in effect.

For instance, Moschos drafted the statute which created the Massachusetts Joint Labor-Management Committee, which has overseen collective bargaining of municipal police officers and firefighters since 1978, providing mediation and arbitration for police and fire bargaining impasses. Since the passage of that law, there have been no police or fire strikes in Massachusetts.

Moschos also drafted G.L.c 41, §108N, authorizing employment contracts for town managers, administrators, executive secretaries or administrative assistants, and G.L.c. 41 §108N1/2 establishing employment contracts for appointed municipal treasurers, assessors or collectors.

For the city of Worcester, Moschos recodified the City Ordinances in 1974 and, in 1986, drafted the city’s administrative code.

Currently Moschos serves as labor counsel for various private and public employers in Massachusetts, regularly advising employers on labor and employment law issues. In his extensive practice, he has personally conducted more than 700 labor negotiations in both the public and private sectors.
