Gotham Pizza, a popular pizzeria in Manhattan, will pay workers salary and tips owed, and accept government monitoring, after a New York Attorney General’s Office investigation charged that for three years it intentionally paid employees below the minimum wage and that it withheld certain overtime pay and tips.
Gotham Pizza and its owner Michael Shamailov will pay 10 employees a total of $175,000 under an Assurance of Discontinuance Agreement Pursuant to Executive Law § 63(I5) reached with the A.G.’s Office Labor Bureau Criminal Section, according to the prosecutor’s office and a copy of the agreement.
