Chandigarh: The Punjab Youth Congress on Sunday accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of making false claims of providing 29,000 government jobs to the youth.
Referring to a reply given by minister Aman Arora to a question posed by a legislator in the Punjab assembly, Brinder Singh Dhillon, president of the Punjab Youth Congress, pointed out the inconsistencies in the government’s response.
He claimed that in writing, it was revealed that only 4,588 joining letters had been issued since March 16, 2022. Furthermore, upon analysing the data provided, it became apparent that out of the 4,588 jobs offered, 4,358 were actually the joining letters for the posts of constable. These constable positions were advertised during the previous Congress regime and the process was completed by January 8, 2022, said Dhillon, adding that due to code of conduct, the issuance of joining letters was delayed.
“This information raises serious concerns about the accuracy of the Punjab government’s claims. If the data provided in the Vidhan Sabha by minister Aman Arora is accurate, it clearly indicates that the government has only provided 230 jobs in one year,” he said.
