Grand Junction Facebook troll prompts sheriff’s investigation after false homicide claims - KKCO 11 News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - An internet troll on a popular Grand Junction Facebook group caused the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) to release a statement after the department received reports from concerned community members.

MCSO said that at 6:40 p.m., its deputies and investigators became aware of social media posts being made by an individual claiming to have killed a Mesa County woman.

The posts were being made on the Facebook group, Grand Junction Community Chat, which has over 25,000 members.

The individual posted numerous posts about one woman, some of which claimed that they killed her or that the woman in question was dead.

In one of the deleted posts, which was shared with KKCO, the individual wrote ‘We killed her and we glad. Come find us. Lmao she was a fat nasty hoe ding dong the fat witch is dead,’ along with an accompanying photo of the woman.

Another post read ‘Rest in peace autumn we will miss you,’ along with a different photo of the same woman.

MCSO has verified that the subject of the posts is not dead.

MCSO investigators have also identified the creator of the post, whose identity was not shared.

“We ask that the community please refrain from calling Dispatch to report the initial post and continued posts and comments. Investigators are conducting appropriate follow-up,” the department said.
