Grand Jury Materials Denied by Tax Court in Whistleblower Case - news.bloombergtax.com

A trader with expertise in foreign exchange who claimed information he provided led the IRS to prosecute promoters of abusive tax shelters can’t access grand jury materials, the US Tax Court ruled Thursday.

Jeremy Berenblatt didn’t meet the high standard that would have allowed him to use information from a grand jury in his challenge of an IRS whistleblower award denial, according to a memorandum opinion from Judge Elizabeth A. Copeland.
