Greenberg Traurig has added labor and employment attorney Daniel O. Canales as a shareholder in its Chicago office, continuing the firm’s expansion of its employment litigation and workplace advisory capabilities.
Canales joins the global law firm from Duane Morris, where he was a partner representing employers in labor, employment, trade secret, restrictive covenant, and commercial disputes across a range of industries.
The move adds another experienced management-side employment lawyer to Greenberg Traurig’s Chicago platform at a time when employers continue facing elevated litigation exposure tied to wage and hour disputes, workplace investigations, restrictive covenants, workforce reductions, and evolving state employment regulations.
Canales has represented clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative matters involving discrimination claims, retaliation allegations, contract disputes, and workplace safety issues. His practice includes litigation under federal employment laws such as Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
He has also handled appeals before the Seventh Circuit and Illinois appellate courts and has first-chaired jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations.
