Senator Barbara Pocock says the changes at the top of KPMG’s management should not be used as a justification to let the firm back into the consulting fold.
The Greens have accused accounting firm KPMG of trying to clean house ahead of a parliamentary committee hearing that will again focus on the firm’s treatment of a whistleblower and its ethical failures.
KPMG chair Michael Ebeid sought to apologise via e-mail last weekend to Senator Deborah O’Neill for the language he used in a March 25 e-mail that was dismissive of a whistleblower’s concerns about the firm’s use of confidential client information from one audit to win additional audit work.
