Last year, Princess Williams was charged with making a false claim and attempting to extort $10 million from her then boyfriend.
According to reports, her then boyfriend told police that she threatened to make false claims that he raped her if he failed to pay her the sum of $10 million.
An investigation was launched and Williams was subsequently arrested and charged.
She was found guilty of extortion and handed a three-year jail term.
Several Guyanese men have since taken to social media to comment on the case and share similar experiences.
One man posted: "It is a terrible system. Men are marginalised in more ways than one but many of my learned Facebook comrades and the wider population aren't ready for those discussions."
"An individual once tried this nonsense with me, I told her to go right ahead. I hope she is seeing this..." another man commented.
Yet another man posted "As someone who has been accused of raping someone I've never even shaken hands with, much less hugged I can testify that the system is trash. Imagine a woman can blast you on every social media platform she could access saying I drugged and raped her... tell all her friends... have clients being warned about working with me... when you take legal action she is fined $100,00GYD and you're told not to say anything about the matter because it might damage her image. What about my image? What about the people who still walk around thinking I'm a rapist?
