A Tennessee ballot is not disqualified simply because an election official or poll worker makes an administrative notation on it, according to Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett's office.
The office issued a statement after receiving several calls and emails about a false social media post claiming such notations invalidate ballots.
"In Tennessee, a ballot is not disqualified simply because an election official or poll worker makes an administrative notation on it," the statement said.
Hargett's office also said it was sharing a screenshot of the post to identify the misinformation and address it directly.
Voters with questions about their ballots or voting procedures are encouraged to seek information from election officials.
"For accurate information about voting procedures or your ballot, turn to trusted election officials rather than social media posts or rumors," the statement said.
The Tennessee secretary of state's Division of Elections can assist voters at 877-850-4959.
Early voting for the Nov. 3 election runs Oct. 14-29. Williamson County voters can find polling locations and hours at williamsoncounty-tn.gov/1576/Voting-Information.
