Health Alliance Medical Plans Inc. and Health Alliance Connect Inc. must continue to defend against a False Claims Act suit alleging they improperly billed the federal government for skilled nursing facility services.
Whistleblower Thomas Prose sufficiently alleged the companies knowingly failed to provide services to eligible patients, Chief Judge Colin S. Bruce of the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois said in a Wednesday opinion denying a motion to dismiss.
Bruce’s conclusion relied on another case involving Prose, United States ex rel. Prose v. Molina Healthcare of Illinois.
