Health-Care System Ends Interference Suit Against Whistleblowers - Bloomberg Law
Marietta Area Healthcare Inc. has settled its lawsuit alleging tortious interference, malicious prosecution, and other claims against two False Claims Act whistleblowers.
Marietta filed a proposed order for dismissal on Wednesday. Judge John Preston Bailey of the US District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia dismissed the suit in a Thursday order.
The whistleblowers filed a FCA suit in 2016 alleging that Marietta violated federal laws governing physician recruitment and compensation and that it submitted inappropriate payment claims to federal health-care programs. The government cleared Marietta of wrongdoing after an investigation, and the whistleblowers voluntarily dismissed their case. ...
