Health whistleblower also reported alleged homophobia and Islamophobia in Comptroller and Auditor General's office - Independent.ie
A Department of Health whistleblower who exposed the breakdown in the relationship between the HSE and the Government also previously made disclosures alleging homophobic remarks and Islamophobia in the State’s auditor’s office.
Shane Corr, who currently works in the Department of Health and previously worked in the Office Of The Comptroller & Auditor General (C&AG), made a series of disclosures to Oireachtas Committees in recent months.
They detailed a strained relationship between officials in the department and in the HSE. The Irish Independent can now reveal that Mr Corr previously made a series of protected disclosures into the C&AG in 2018 which were found to have “no evidence” after an internal review.
In the disclosures, he alleged that staff were making homophobic remarks about fellow workers and also alleges the same staff were making Islamophobic remarks about their colleagues.
In addition, he said, this group was “making malicious and untrue remarks” about other staff members.
Mr Corr also claims that during his time in the Office of the C&AG (OC&AG), he made inquiries about the “sudden disappearance of a colleague” and was told the employee had allegedly “been caught viewing child pornography”.
“[The employee] was given the option to simply leave OC&AG without any questions being asked or answered,” the disclosures state.
