House calling U.S. attorney David Weiss to testify amid ... - NBC 15 WPMI

WASHINGTON (TND) — Congressional Republicans are demanding the lead prosecutor on Hunter Biden’s case, U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss, testify before Congress over newly reported concens about the case.

According to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., House Republicans want to question Weiss on concerns raised a pair of IRS whistleblowers who alleged Attorney General Merrick Garland denied Weiss’s request for special counsel status on Hunter Biden's case. The whistleblowers also alleged the Department of Justice blocked Weiss’s attempts to indict Hunter in California and Washington D.C.

McCarthy says he wants Weiss before a committee by July 6th.

"When you have the IRS coming to you saying, 'the Justice Department isn’t letting the IRS criminal investigators do their job' that should set off alarm bells," said Rep. David Schweikert, R-Ariz.

Weiss and Garland have repeatedly publicly denied any DOJ interference in the case.

McCarthy says if their probe finds truth to the allegations, Merrick Garland will likely face impeachment.

Former Attorney General for George W. Bush, Alberto Gonzales, says impeachment threats come with the office.

One could say you’re not doing your job if there aren’t threats of impeachment when one serves as Attorney General," Gonzales explained. "You’re involved in those difficult complex cases. You’re always going to make someone mad by your decision.
