How Do Whistleblowers Affect You?
The topic of whistleblowers and whistleblower rights may seem like a niche or technical concept, but it actually impacts you every day. Without brave employees coming forward to expose wrongdoing they witness in their place of business, the public would be vulnerable to the greed and negligence of those in power. Whistleblowers can come from every government agency, every industry, every state, and every country. Anyone could become a whistleblower at any time. They are normal employees just like you who happen to see corruption or wrongdoing and speak out, often at a cost. However, without reporting channels or legislation to protect them, whistleblowers would not exist, and our world would look drastically different, and much worse. If we want to hold powerful people and systems accountable, we need greater whistleblower rights and protections.
