Like many workers during the start of the pandemic in 2020, Paige Sparks was wondering how to move forward with her career. As a new lawyer, she needed to build a reputation and get case referrals. So, she started sharing her legal knowledge on TikTok to see if she could generate buzz where she lives in Missouri.

She now has 326,000 followers on her TikTok account, lawyerpaige — not to mention, her own law practice.

Sparks, 30, said her most popular content includes skits on how to talk with human resources and explainers on news headlines related to employment law, such as how a pharmacist fought for the right to have a service dog at work. The content usually hits when people can actively relate to the legal issues she's discussing.

"My first video that went viral was when I was having an after-work cocktail and walking my dog and I was like, 'don't talk to HR,'" said Sparks. "It was probably something I should not have made to be professional, but it resonated with a lot of people."
