‘I spoke out about this in 2018. They said I was plotting Arthur Mafokate’s downfall’ – Whistleblower - News24

He has been ridiculed, accused of trying to discredit his former boss, Arthur Mafokate, and told he was imagining it all.

Now, following news that Arthur was being investigated for graft, Brian Mokoena, a former employee of the music executive and kwaito icon fears for his life.

But the former 999 general manager and COO is not about to keep quiet. He has been trying to get his former boss investigated since 2018, Brian tells Drum. He says he is speaking out to show people that he wasn’t crazy or wanted Arthur down and out but everything he said is true.

"Now I am being advised to get bodyguards because I might be in danger. I won’t. No one will do anything to me, I don’t need bodyguards," he says.

A statement by the National Prosecuting Authority states that the National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) have obtained a preservation order from the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Pretoria to freeze three luxury properties, a plot, and portion of a farm that are linked to the siphoning of lotteries grant funding meant for community development projects.

The SIU revealed that five NPOs received grant funding of approximately R56,3 million from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) for community development projects. Among those companies is SAADA represented by Arthur, who is a director of the company.
