BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A former public official who served on a hospital board until his arrest claims he was targeted for raising questions while on the board, despite being convicted this month of stealing and obstruction of justice.
Glenn Price, who served on the West Ascension Parish Hospital Board, signed a plea agreement on May 8, entering a guilty plea to two felonies. Those charges were illegal possession of stolen things valued at $25,000 or more, and obstruction of justice. The charges were tied to $106,000 worth of stolen copper he sold to a recycling facility.
When Price was charged in March 2025, he also faced a money laundering charge, which was dropped as part of his plea deal.
Price said he took the plea deal because it was easier than going to trial. He said he was removed from the hospital board after he was arrested.
“Politically, people got together and say, look, let’s just take what he’s charged with and force him off that board,” Price said. “Because as long as he’s in an official capacity like that, he can be a problem because he’s going to expose the things that we don’t want the public to know.”
Price said he had raised concerns about an $80,000 payment to longtime hospital CEO Vince Cataldo for accrued vacation time. A 2024 hospital audit concluded, “the CEO was possibly overpaid for his accrued vacation.”
