Operators of residential apartments in Illinois defeated a former employee’s suit alleging they violated the False Claims Act by firing her in retaliation for raising concerns about federal housing regulations, a federal district court said.
Ebony Farr failed to adequately allege that Ross Financial Services Inc. and Carbondale Limited Partnership LLP knew she engaged in protected conduct under the FCA, which is required for raising a retaliation claim under that law, Judge J. Phil Gilbert of the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois said in a Monday decision to dismiss without prejudice.
