The Illinois Governor Feb. 10 signed a law concerning benefits for public employees. The law includes measures: 1) amending the Illinois Pension Code to provide that beginning in tax year 2023, the Forest Preserve District must levy an annual tax on the dollar value of all taxable property within a county at a rate that will produce an amount equal to no less than the amount of the district’s total contribution to the pension fund for the next payment year; 2) providing that the retirement board must retain an accredited actuary to produce an annual actuarial report for the fund; ...
