In move to counter China's false claims, India assigns standard names to 28 places in Ladakh | China had published standard names for Arunachal | Inshorts - Inshorts

India has formally assigned standard names to 28 places and geographical features in Ladakh on official map of India, in what is being seen as a counter to false territorial claims made by China. Among the land areas are Gogra and Hot Springs, both of which saw friction between Indian and Chinese troops after deadly Galwan Valley clash in 2020.

India win 2 more golds, bag 5 gold medals in a day at Asian Games

India added two more gold medals at Asian Games 2026 on Friday as boxer Ankush Panghal and wrestler Sujeet Kalkal won their respective finals. Their triumphs took India’s gold haul for the day to five. Earlier today, the women’s recurve archery team and boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Parveen Hooda had also finished on top of the podium.

Chahal retires from first-class cricket without ever playing a Test for India

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal announced his retirement from first-class cricket without ever playing a Test match for India. Chahal said that playing a Test for India was always his dream, adding, "It may not have happened, but I am genuinely content with the journey I have had." Chahal played 49 first-class matches, taking 148 wickets. He represented Haryana in domestic cricket.
