India Rejects Claims Of U.S. Using Its Territory For Iran Strikes - indica News

India has dismissed viral social media claims suggesting it allowed the United States to use its territory to launch strikes on Iran, calling them false and misleading.

The Ministry of External Affairs said there was no truth to reports that Washington had sought permission under the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) to carry out bombing operations from western parts of India.

Officials urged people to avoid sharing unverified information, especially during a sensitive geopolitical situation.

The government clarified that LEMOA, signed in 2016, only allows India and the U.S. to access each other’s military facilities for logistical support such as refueling and repairs. It does not permit either country to carry out offensive military operations from the other’s territory.

The clarification came after speculation grew online following recent developments in the ongoing conflict with Iran, including reports of U.S. military action in the region. Some posts falsely suggested that India may have been involved or had allowed its bases or ports to be used.

New Delhi has categorically denied any such role and said its territory, airspace, and facilities were not used for any military strikes. Officials noted that similar false claims have surfaced in recent weeks and have been repeatedly debunked.
