We endorse your call to encourage whistle-blowing in universities, but disagree with your implication that academic institutions could learn from industry about job satisfaction and bullying among researchers (Nature 617, 651; 2023). Bullying still occurs in industry, despite researchers’ reported high levels of job satisfaction (see Nature 600, 8; 2021).
