Platform Workers Directive. The Council of the EU formally adopted at first reading a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on improving working conditions in platform work on 14 October 2024 aiming to ensure that people working through digital labour platforms are granted the legal employment status that corresponds to their work arrangements. The Directive was approved by the European Parliament earlier this year and is now likely to enter into force in the coming month. We will be monitoring transposition of this across the European Member States over the next two years.
