Iranian State Media Fabricate a Long List of Israeli Leaders Supposedly Killed by the Regime’s Missiles

What’s happening: Since the start of the war in Iran on Feb. 28, 2026, Iranian state media and other pro-regime voices have repeatedly advanced claims that either exaggerate or entirely fabricate tales of Iran’s military prowess.

This week, those claims got personal.

Context: Starting on March 8, Iranian state media and pro-Iran social media accounts have claimed that Iran has killed an ever-growing list of Israeli government officials and their family members, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and David Barnea, director of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. None of these claims is true.

Netanyahu: Iranian state media and other pro-regime forces claim on X that Iranian missile strikes killed or injured Netanyahu on March 9 or 10.
