The IRS accepted a recommendation to improve its data on the factors in whistleblower claims that are most likely to generate big tax recoveries.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, or TIGTA, announced several recommendations and the Internal Revenue Service’s responses in a June 8 report. The Treasury oversight body found the IRS Whistleblower Office doesn’t capture all the data that could help determine if the most promising whistleblower claims are being picked for tax enforcement.
