WASHINGTON (TND) — The House Committee on Ways and Means released a report Thursday claiming President Joe Biden was protected by the IRS when prosecutors investigated his alleged connection to his son’s taxes.
The committee says IRS whistleblowers recently shared evidence showing any "investigative lead" into Hunter Biden's "tax crimes" was blocked by the agency.
In one instance, at the height of President Biden’s campaign in 2020, the whistleblowers say a donor paid off nearly $2 billion of Hunter Biden's unpaid tax liability. Prosecutors then uncovered an email from a Biden family accountant citing “risk personally and politically” to resolve Hunter’s unpaid taxes.
The only political risks, prosecutors realized, would be if the returns somehow connected to President Biden's campaign.

When Special Agent Joseph Ziegler, a whistleblower, explained his suspicions to U.S. Attorney Leslie Wolf, she allegedly said she was not “personally interested” in the case. Wolf allegedly later directed IRS agents to remove references to “political figure 1,” a reference to President Biden, from a search warrant.
Special Agent Gary Shapley, another whistleblower, said such a block was abnormal and that these leads would normally be pursued.
