The Chairman of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hon. Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, has dismissed allegations of diversion of relief materials and cash assistance meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), insisting that the intervention was distributed transparently and in line with due process.
Kamarawa, in a statement made available to journalists in Sokoto on Thursday, said the humanitarian support approved by the Sokoto State Government was successfully delivered to displaced families affected by insecurity across communities in Isa Local Government Area.
He said the clarification became necessary following the circulation of a viral social media video in which some individuals alleged that the relief materials were not distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
According to him, the claims were later withdrawn by the individuals involved, who admitted that the distribution exercise actually took place.
“The relief materials and cash assistance were distributed openly and fairly to the rightful beneficiaries in strict compliance with the directive of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu. The subsequent retractions by those who appeared in the viral video have exposed the allegations as false and misleading,” he said.
