Israel embassy in Egypt sparks outrage with false claim about Ramadan iftar - Middle East Monitor

The Israeli occupation’s embassy in Egypt has provoked widespread outrage on social media after claiming to have hosted an iftar gathering attended by Egyptian business figures and intellectuals, Arabi21 reported.

The Facebook page Israel in Egypt posted an image of a dining table with no people present, raising further doubts about the authenticity of what many described as mere allegations.

According to the widely debated post, the Israeli Embassy in Egypt claimed it had organised an iftar banquet on Monday evening in honour of a group of Egyptian guests, including business figures and intellectuals. The embassy stated that the event aimed to “promote friendship and mutual support while respecting Israel’s commitment to religious diversity and freedom of worship.”

However, the embassy provided no concrete evidence, such as photos or videos, to support its claim. Instead, it only shared a single image showing the dining table, leading many Egyptian social media users to cast doubt on whether the event had actually taken place.

In response, several social media activists called for the embassy to provide clear and verifiable proof, such as photos or the names of attendees, or to issue an apology for spreading false claims.
