A Jacksonville chiropractor has been sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for defrauding health insurance companies of more than a quarter of a million dollars.
Sean Rondeau, 56, of Jacksonville will be under three years of supervised release when his prison term is completed, and he will have to pay more than $268,000 in restitution.
Rondeau, who had offices in Jacksonville and White Hall, originally was indicted by a federal grand jury in June 2024. A grand jury issued a superseding indictment against him in August 2024.
He pleaded guilty in December 2025 to healthcare fraud, three counts of mail fraud and five counts of wire fraud.
During his sentencing hearing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Springfield, prosecutors said Rondeau submitted more than 2,000 fraudulent claims. When he became aware the claims were being investigated, he convinced some of his clients to sign false documents to try to hide his actions, according to court testimony.
The indictment maintained that Rondeau submitted claims for payment for supplies and services that never occurred or never existed and had patients sign blank treatment forms.
U.S. District Judge Colleen R. Lawless said Rondeau had been caught committing fraud more than a decade ago, and continued submitting false claims even after he knew he was being investigated.
