The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol convenes its next live hearing at 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday as the panel begins to make its closing argument that former President Donald Trump orchestrated a wide-ranging attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, committee aides said.
Thursday's hearing will focus on former Mr. Trump’s state of mind on that day as well as examine the “ongoing threats to democracy that persist to this day,” committee aides said.
Since its most recent hearing in late July, the panel has received thousands of documents from the Secret Service and interviewed new witnesses, including several members of Mr. Trump’s cabinet.
