Japanese eroge developer forced to deny bizarre false claim of “upcoming anime adaptation” made by its own staff member - AUTOMATON

Japanese adult visual novel developer HULOTTE announced on January 31 that they have no official plans to make an anime adaptation of their game Ore no Hitomi de Maruhadaka! Fukachi na Mirai to Misukasu Vision (known as Orefukachi). This comes after an anime adaptation announced was shared on X by an illustrator officially affiliated with HULOTTE. On February 2, the artist posted an apology, explaining that their claims were fabricated.

Akane Ikegami, who worked as the character designer and CG illustrator for Orefukachi made an X post on January 31 announcing an upcoming anime adaptation of the visual novel. The announcement was accompanied by a celebratory illustration by the artist, and the post directed to what seemed to be an “official” X account made to promote the anime. As Ikegami explained in a related post, the illustration was commissioned by an anime production committee.

Only a couple of hours after the announcement, HULOTTE made an official statement explaining that information about an “anime adaptation” was all false, and that, at the time of writing, they had no plans to produce an Orefukachi anime. Therefore, in case an anime adaptation is actually in production, it is being done without permission from the IP owners, HULOTTE explained.
