Jeon Han-gil Denies Defaming Lee Jae Myung, Lee Jun-seok - 조선일보

YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, accused of defaming President Lee Jae Myung and Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok by spreading false information, attended a warrant review hearing.

Seoul Central District Court Presiding Judge Kim Jin-man, in charge of warrants, began conducting a warrant review hearing at 10:30 a.m. on the 16th for Mr. Jeon, who faces charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and violation of the Telecommunications Basic Act.

Upon arriving at the court around 10:03 a.m. that day, Mr. Jeon met with reporters and said, “I have lived without law for 55 years and have no prior convictions,” adding, “I came to the police station after the Lee Jae Myung administration was born.”

Denying the allegations, Mr. Jeon stated, “I cited media reports.” On YouTube, he previously claimed the president had created a slush fund worth 160 trillion Korean won and raised false allegations about the private life of Cheong Wa Dae Kim Hyun-ji, the private secretary to the president. Regarding this, Mr. Jeon said, “I was not the first to report it; it was already reported by U.S. media,” adding, “Reporting suspicions is not related to crime.”

Regarding the claim that the leader’s Harvard University bachelor’s degree in economics is false, Mr. Jeon reiterated, “The bachelor’s degree in economics is false.” He stated, “To obtain a bachelor’s degree in economics, one must complete 16 subjects over four years, but (the leader) only completed five subjects,”...
