Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner has firmly denied filmmaker Yi Zhou’s allegations of harassment, calling them “totally inaccurate and untrue.” The 'Hawkeye' star broke his silence after Zhou took to Instagram with a series of posts detailing their brief professional and personal interactions earlier this year, tagging them with hashtags like “#CancelJeremyRenner.”
According to Zhou, her first contact with Renner was in June, when she alleged that he sent her “a string of unsolicited pornographic images” via direct message and WhatsApp. She further claimed that he “seduced” her into believing he genuinely cared for her. Zhou also described an alleged August 20 meeting, during which she said Renner became “violent” after drinking wine, forcing her to lock herself in a room out of fear.
While speaking to Variety, Renner’s representative, however, categorically dismissed the claims, stating, “The allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue.” His legal team has not issued additional comments.
Zhou continued to post about her experience on Instagram, calling it an example of “the dark side of Hollywood” and claiming she had been “destroyed by a set-up of smear campaigns (sic).” She also noted that she had received support from friends and colleagues within the industry.
