Jilted mum sent 'humiliating' email to love rival lawyer with false claims of lewd videos and drugs - Manchester Evening News

A jilted mother of three tried to ruin the life of her ex's new lawyer girlfriend by sending emails with false claims she had explicit videos of her, a court was told. Kayleigh Gordon, 32, lied by saying she had lewd footage of Beth Mantel and claimed the solicitor was involved in substance misuse.

Gordon - who had previously been in a relationship with businessman Richard Buggy - said the video was of him and new love Ms Mantel and threatened to share it on social media. To make matters worse for Ms Mantel she sent the message to a generic email address and the receptionist forwarded the message to the whole office, Warrington magistrates were told.

Ms Mantel, from Alderley Edge, said the actions had caused 'substantial distress' to her and Mr Buggy, 38, a solar panel expert. In a statement she said she had 'struggled' and had been 'embarrassed' about the email which had been sent to her former employer as she had recently taken up a new post.

She also sent a vile email to 36-year old Miss Mantel's employer at a top law firm in Manchester falsely alleging she was involved in substance misuse. Her actions had caused "substantial distress" to both Miss Mantel, a criminal defence lawyer who specialises in defending clients accused of drug dealing, and Mr Buggy.
