Josh Duggar has defended his brother Joseph from a federal prison in Texas, telling reporters through his lawyers that 'false accusations can destroy a life' after Joseph Duggar was arrested in Tontitown, Arkansas, on 18 March on child molestation charges linked to a nine-year-old girl in Florida.

The former 19 Kids and Counting star, who is serving a 12.5‑year sentence at FCI Seagoville for receiving child sexual abuse material, framed his brother as the target of a media‑fuelled storm even though police say Joseph has admitted his actions and apologised to the alleged victim.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office in Florida said the case stems from a 2020 incident in Panama City Beach, when the girl, then aged nine, was on a family holiday. According to the sheriff's account, she later reported that Joseph asked her to sit on his lap and 'grazed her genitals' under a blanket. She told investigators the incidents stopped in 2020 after he apologised.

Josh Duggar's intervention has been channelled through two separate statements from his legal team.
