"This is the gig economy: on-demand jobs, supplemental income, tradeoffs between stability and flexibility, and a market where many drivers use multiple apps at once, such as Uber and Lyft, or multiple platforms, such as Uber Rides and Uber Eats, to earn the equivalent of full-time pay. It is inappropriate to exclude this type of work and these kinds of drivers from the nature of Uber’s business or the core activities of the class," Chief Judge Freda Wolfson wrote.
